Driver requirements
The minibus can normally be driven with a standard category B car licence. However, every driver must also demonstrate that they are competent to drive this type of vehicle.
Drivers must hold at least one of the following:
- A current MiDAS qualification
- A Hertfordshire County Council Minibus Permit
- A PCV licence
- A full category D1 licence or higher
Acquired D1 rights with a 101 restriction are not accepted unless the driver also holds another approved qualification.
Other driver-assessment schemes may be accepted. Please ask us before making a booking.
Section 19 permit
Every organisation using the minibus must have a valid Section 19 permit.
- Read The Scout Association’s Section 19 permit guidance
- Read the government guidance on Section 19 and 22 permits
Towing
The minibus has a tow bar, but trailers are not covered by the District’s minibus insurance.
Anyone towing a trailer does so at the hiring organisation’s own risk and must hold a full category D1+E licence.
